CUSTOMIZED WORKPLACE TOOLS AND PRODUCTIVITY OF OIL AND GAS SERVICING FIRMS IN RIVERS STATE, NIGERIA

ABSTRACT
This study examined the relationship between customized workplace tools and organizational
productivity of oil and gas servicing firms in Rivers State. The study adopted a descriptive research
design and collected primary data using questionnaire. The population of the study comprise 5 oil
and gas servicing firms in Rivers State. A census was taken, while 25 test units were surveyed on a
sample frame of 5 respondents per firm. The respondents comprise managers, Heads of Departments
and Supervisors. Spearman’s Rank Order Correlation served as the test statistic, all analyses were
conducted with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0. The result
shows a significant positive relationship between customized workplace tools and organizational
productivity. Investing in the right assistive technology for disabled workers will enhance
organizational productivity. This study recommends that the oil and gas servicing firms in Rivers
State must be more intentional and inclusive in customizing work tools and assistive technologies
during staff recruitment, selection and placement in order to improve organizational productivity.
